Launched in 1939 at the international housewares expo at Chicago’s McCormick Place, the original 1400 line was renowned for its combination of modern materials and manufacturing. A revolutionary design constructed in polished stainless, gloss black Bakelite, and its most notable feature, an Iconic copper-clad bottom that delivers superior thermal conductivity. The design was a harmony of art deco styling combined with heritage details inspired by the namesake founder of the company.

The goal of this project was to re-imagine the original Revere Ware design through a lens of the second half of the 20th century, to create a distinctive yet familiar design in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Revere Ware’s launch in 1939.

A visual analysis the original design along with an exploration of what it spoke to consumers of that era informed my reinterpretation of the iconic original, while taking it upmarket from utilitarian to luxury good.
